Recipe for Great Coffee: Use cold filtered water and a clean machine. Grind beans just before brewing. Coarse for coffee press. Medium for automatic drip. Measure 2 tbsp (10 g) ground coffee for every 6 fl oz (180 ml) water. Storage Philosophy 101: To preserve that fresh, just-roasted flavor, keep this bag sealed tight in a cabinet (not the refrigerator) and brew within a week of opening.
Tasting Notes: Intensely smoky. Our Dark Roasts: We roast coffees darker to achieve specific flavors - from subtle notes of caramelized sugar to a bold smoky taste. It takes special beans to go this dark. Anything other than dense, high-grown arabica beans will turn to ash and leave an unpleasant finish. But when a good bean meets a skilled roaster, ah, that's something to be reckoned with. French is all about the roast. It's our darkest and boldest and not for the faint of heart.
