First-Time Disney World Visitor? Here's What to Order Before You Arrive

Your first Disney World trip is going to be magical. It's also going to be expensive if you don't plan ahead. This checklist covers everything to order for delivery so you can focus on the fun, not the food budget.

Welcome to the club. Disney World first-timers often make the same mistake: they spend weeks planning park days, FastPasses, and dining reservations — but forget to think about the unglamorous stuff until they're standing in the resort convenience store, staring at a $5 water bottle.

This guide gives you a complete, ready-to-use grocery order list based on what our most satisfied customers — families at every Disney resort — consistently buy. Take this list, customize it to your family, and place your Disney World grocery delivery order before you board your flight.

Quick note: What is Garden Grocer?

Garden Grocer is a grocery delivery service that's been delivering to Walt Disney World resorts since 2009. We shop local grocery stores, pack everything in insulated bags, and deliver directly to your resort's bell services desk. You don't have to be there when we deliver. We have over 5,000 products and 500,000+ deliveries completed. Learn how it works →

The First-Timer's Complete Grocery Checklist

Use this as a starting point. Scale up or down based on your family size and length of stay.

☕ Morning Routine

Breakfast at a Disney resort restaurant costs $30–$60 per person. Eating in your room even 2–3 mornings saves a significant chunk of money.

Coffee pods or ground coffee — Most Disney rooms have a coffee maker
Creamer & sugar — The packets they provide are never enough
Cereal or oatmeal — Quick, easy, kids' favorites travel well
Milk (gallon or half-gallon) — Order what your family will realistically use
Orange juice or apple juice — The resort OJ is $6 a glass
Bread + peanut butter + jam — Breakfast and park lunch sorted
Yogurt cups — Individual cups are easy, no bowl needed
Fresh fruit (bananas, apples) — Easy to grab on the way out the door

💧 Hydration (Your Biggest Saver)

This is the single most important category. A family of 4 drinking 2–3 bottles each per day at park prices would spend $80–$120 on water alone. Don't do it.

24-pack of water bottles — Get at least one per 2 days of your stay
Sports drinks (Gatorade, Powerade) — Essential for hot Florida days in the parks
Juice boxes for kids — Easy to pack, kids love them
Soda 12-packs — For the room at night — massive savings vs. resort prices

🎒 Park Bag Snacks

You're allowed to bring outside food and non-alcoholic beverages into all Disney World theme parks. This is your superpower. Load a backpack every morning from your grocery stash.

Individual snack bags (chips, pretzels, goldfish) — One per person per day keeps complaints down
Granola bars & protein bars — Between-meal hunger killers
Applesauce pouches & fruit cups — Mess-free, no refrigeration needed
Crackers + cheese pouches — Easy protein and carb combo
Nut butter packets — High calorie, lightweight
Gummy snacks or fruit snacks — For the kids — park treats are expensive

🌙 Evening Essentials

After a long day at the parks, you don't always want to hit another restaurant. Having easy options in your room is a game-changer for tired families.

Microwaveable soup or pasta — Most rooms have a microwave
Frozen meals (if you have a freezer) — DVC villas and some suites have full kitchens
Ice cream bars or popsicles — Post-park celebration staple
Popcorn or chips for movie nights — Disney+ in the room is perfect
Beer or wine for adults — We carry alcohol — verified at delivery

👶 Kids & Baby Specific

If you're traveling with infants or picky toddlers, this category might be the most important. Don't risk your child's one familiar brand being unavailable at the resort.

Baby formula (your brand) — Don't assume the resort carries yours
Baby food pouches — Bring enough for the whole trip
Diapers & wipes — We carry these too — heavy to pack
Kids' snack favorites — Their specific brands for comfort
Allergy-safe alternatives — Disney dining accommodates allergies, but having backup is smart

When to Order

3–5 days before your trip

Ideal. Gives you time to adjust your order, check flight confirmations, and not stress.

Day before departure

Still fine. We can accommodate most orders on short notice. Just check availability for your delivery window.

Day of arrival

We can often do same-day delivery depending on timing. Schedule delivery for after your estimated check-in time.

After you arrive

Works too — though you'll be tempted to pay resort prices while waiting. Order before your trip!
